Post Transplant Admission

I came out of RTU after 4 days and was terribly waiting to see and talk with people. During my stay, I clearly learned that I should be absolutely infection-free and created my own views and ideas as to how I should be in the house, what I should eat and regarding all aspects, (although, when I came home, I could not follow everything as planned before).

Now, I was with a drainage tube alone and even the slightest move (or shake) in the tube, was paining a lot, even more than the incision site. But one more problem is, some 18 stitches starting from 2 to 3 inches above navel (but more obliquely in the body) till the groin, were exactly perpendicular to the body. So, the slightest move even in any one of the stitches was paining, just like stabbing with a sharp knife and this was mainly due to the dress, I was wearing.

It was 19th January, I came to ward for Post Transplant Admission and again, was so free to see all and to talk with everybody. I wanted to talk much about everything happened in RTU and a lot more, but everyone suppressed me and told me not to, as I might get infection. My mother was supposed to be discharged that day. So, she was waiting to see me.

Once coming from RTU, I was speechless with my parents and relatives for a long period. I really wanted to talk with them and everybody around there in the hospital including people working there, particularly the people in Dialysis room.

So, I was happy calling my relatives through phone. But everyone advised me to stay calm and again not to talk and strain myself. I cannot be like that and want to be like me. So, even if they shout at me, still I too shout at them. Also, as I was away from the sterililzed area (RTU) and then in an open place, I was 100% vulnerable to infection and also due to this change in my body, even my BP may be high, along with Cyclosporin dosage. As I was ignorant at that time, I never knew all these.

During my second day’s stay in the ward, I saw a doctor who advised about the follow up visits. He told me that he would be staying here for 2 months (for training or so). Later, every doctor knew my name and takes my chart without asking me.

I passed two days in the ward with much difficulty and on the 3rd day was discharged. Nothing much important happened these days. I was so happy, that I am going home.
